NC State Graduate Christian Fellowship (GCF) People
Meet some of the people involved with GCF at NC State:
I am Victor, a PhD student in the Department of Chemistry, in the area of computational and theoretical Chemistry at NC State University, Raleigh. I was born and raised in Nigeria and I had my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria. My life and faith has been largely shaped by my experiences in Nigeria, making it an important part of my story. However, the last one year has opened me up to a new environment; providing new experiences, new people, new challenges among others. In all of these, GCF has offered me the gift of community, friendship and family simultaneously helping me to grow in my faith, and love people with the truth of the gospel. Aside school activities, I enjoy singing in the choir, playing tennis (though, not an expert), and coding.
My name is Sophia, and despite having called North Carolina home for the past two years, my roots trace back to Nairobi, Kenya. I am deeply passionate about Civil Engineering and am currently pursuing my PhD. Beyond academia, I find solace in the great outdoors, often embarking on hikes and exploring new destinations whenever my schedule permits. As the semester begins, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to connect with fellow students within GCF community and hopefully foster new friendships and experiences along the way.

Sherry is a native of North Carolina and holds a BA in History from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina and a Master’s in Archaeology from NC State University. She has a full-time job with the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology Research Center in Raleigh and loves it. She enjoys being outside in nature, reading, and being around family and friends.
Ben grew up in San Diego, California. He came to North Carolina to do a postdoc at State in 2026, after finishing his Ph.D. in Biomathematics at UCLA. He is one of the founders of the current group. He was told that you cannot be a postdoc forever, but has endeavored to disprove this by doing a series of remote Research Scientist jobs. Ben enjoys reading, being outside in nature, being inside (not in nature), programming in C++, hanging out in his home directory, and talking philosophy and theology in coffee shops with friends. He is a fan of CS Lewis, Eugene Peterson, Richard Bauckham and NT Wright.
